Infobites: Did you know that this sweet purple and yellow shrub has many uses for both humans and animals? The plant is commonly found in many wild places in South East Asia (including coastal area) is known as the Singapore rhododendron although it is not a rhododendron. The sour young leaves of these plants are not only edible, its roots and leaves are used in traditional treatments of diarrhea and dysentery. When powdered, these leaves may also be sprinkled over wounds and can be used to treat elephants! Interestingly, the fruits may also be used to produce a black dye to yield a very juicy artwork
